Back From The Dead!

Contrary to the buzz, I did not die. After receiving several e-mails from other blogger friends hoping the vacation was worthwhile, I have to say to you, my darlings - It was completely unintentional.

But, in the Web 2.0 world, we move on fast, so I'm sure the last 5.5 weeks that I've been missing in action has not caused you to lose any sleep or hit the bottle harder.

But I will say THIS

The future theme of Onward Charles is currently up for debate. I think the major slump - which boomeranged into a brief stint of apathy - was due to the fact that what was originally themed as a Boston blog became a general music blog, which then seemed to focus on almost nothing but minimal techno coming out of Germany.

And you know I love the rock. Streaming some new Art Brut right now, I've been big on the new BRMC, Wilco, and Modest Mouse records.

So, with that in mind, we'll see.

I love you.
I've missed you.

Please, oh please, give me another chance.
I promise never to break your heart again.

Love,
OC

"Drop the drums, here it comes, only got
one minute to bounce, and every second counts
I went from hustlin dicks, to makin hits, bustin flicks
Now I'm sure to be rich for ninety-six
I pull my 'capes on tapes, and make, papes
Trace the bass, to the tape with the baddest bass to date
I try to shake it but the pace is hard to break
Good thoughts I wait, cause they hate my black take
Yeah, it's on, and it's packed in the rap race
But if ya got a black face, its a rat race
I struggle to be rugged and raw, Dukes
Tryin to survive in the trials and lawsuits
Everybody wants to test me, WHY ME?
No lie, nuckas cried when they try me
Givin up the roughness, justice
I'ma bust as I'm rippin up 'nuff hits
And guess who's back? No longer trapped
Cause I snapped on the ones that held me back, feel the contact
Ride the track, get I grip as I flip
Ghetto wickedness I kick, guess who's back?

Yes I'm back, cause I never did front"

--You can thank 2Pac for that shit.

I could've just as easily gone with some LL Cool J:

"Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin
Wreckin shop, when I drop these lyrics that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price

I'm gonna knock you out (HUUUH!!!)
Mama said knock you out (HUUUH!!!)
[etc]"

...but the 2Pac lyrics are probably funnier.
