Devotchka: Music For Longing. Songs For Dreaming.

Though it came out a little over a month ago, Devotchka's latest release, Curse Your Little Heart, has not been getting the attention it seems to deserve. Filter magazine even introduced them as "the best band in American that you've never heard of" when reviewing their 2004 LP, How It Ends. With their latest EP, the Denver-based band bring their mixture of southwestern-soaked punk melodica to a gorgeous climax. I've been particularly addicted to the unbelieeeevable cover of the Velvet Underground's "Venus In Furs" - one of my favorite songs to do heroin to.

Ahh, just kidding. Nonetheless, since the "Venus" obsession passed, I've moved through the rest of the EP, and finding that everyone who's discovered Devotchka via my recent insistence has absolutely loved the record.
