The Dirty Projectors will be touring the states this fall to support the release of their forthcoming LP, Rise Above on the label Dead Oceans (out Sept. 11). A re-imaging of Black Flag's Damaged album, DP mastermind Dave Longstreth went to help his parents move out of his childhood home after the release of the 2006 EP New Attitude, and coming across the cassette case of the old influence opened the floodgates. With the cassette itself missing, Longstreth decided to buy a four-track, and recasted Damaged without re-listening to a single note or reading any lyrics. Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges (one of my all-time favorite writers - if you haven't read Ficciones then shame on you/get to a library now), this record was completed with the help of Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor to give it the same sound quality that was lauded on his own band's release, Yellow House.
