Make Believe: Of Course It's Good

1. I was a big fan of Cap 'N Jazz (credit to my friend Jack, who's living out in Chicago now and knows more about indie rock and anyone I've ever met), and yeah...particularly Tim Kinsella's voice, which is in a constant state of pre-pubescence.

2. I'm also a fan of Steve Albini, about whom I wrote a really awesome final paper for a class called "The Producer As Creative Artist" in college. Admittedly, though, I haven't cared much for a lot of the bands he's produced as of late, and when someone now says "Steve Albini produced us!" I say "Eh...can I get some french fries too?"

But now we have Make Believe, Tim Kinsella's latest project, which put a great smile across my face upon first hearing "Pat Tillman, Emmitt Til" from MB's upcoming record, Of Course. Carrying on the greater habits formed during Kinsella's older bands, Make Believe's sound takes it to the next level by enriching their sonic intentions. Steve Albini's gift is to convey a band's sound as they want it to be heard, and he's done just that with Of Course. It's being released on Oct 3rd with Flameshovel Records, and they'll be touring more and more. Keep your eyes open!
